I am paralyzed from the shoulders down and need assistance with my morning care. This involves helping me dress and transferred into my wheelchair. I have a regular caretaker who does this, but I need someone to serve as a backup when she gets sick, takes a vacation, etc.
Candidates must reside near the VA hospital in Columbia (within a 5-10 minute drive). The start time is between 7 and 7:30a.m. The care usually takes less than 1 hour. The caretaker will be paid a minimum of $30 per visit. If the care takes more than 1 hour, additional payment will be made based on an hourly rate of $15 per hour. In sum, the candidate's situation should enable her or him to be on call Monday thru Friday mornings.
