Job Description:

The Operations Technician position is directly responsible for safely processing corn, our raw material, into high fructose corn syrup and feed products. Technicians will join a team of 5-7 individuals and work 12 hour rotating shifts, which include overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Process, Monitor, and Control: monitor tank levels, temperatures and pressures including observation of data on computers and field instruments; analyze and document key readings and information; and make appropriate manual and/or automated process adjustments.

• Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Perform and document a variety of preventative/planned maintenance tasks and process improvements on plant systems and equipment.

• Product Sampling/Analysis: Perform quality checks on raw materials, intermediate process streams, and finished products by physically taking samples and testing them in a lab using appropriate lab test equipment.

• Plant Sanitation: Perform clean-up and proper handling of products and equipment giving strong consideration to safety, food safety, and hygiene requirements.

• Product Loading/Unloading: Unload raw material and load finished products in trucks, railcars, etc. Manage product inventory in order to satisfy both internal and external customer needs.

• Safety: Complete and coordinate all work with the highest degree of safety including use of PPE, safe work permits, and ongoing implementation and education of all safety requirements.

In addition to these areas, the Operations Technician will have an opportunity to participate with others in many different specialty tasks and projects. A few examples might include participation on the Safety Committee or Quality Improvement Teams. The plant is a large manufacturing facility and technicians will be subject to performing tasks working under varying temperature extremes, some physical labor, dealing with heights, handling of chemicals, exposure to dust. Some tasks require use of a respirator, and working around a wide variety of continuous process equipment.
