Location: Good Samaritan Society St Martin Village Address: 4825 Jericho Way, Rapid City, SD 57702 USA Compensation: Hourly $11-$12 Employment Type: Full-Time Shift: DayJob SummaryAs an Activity Assistant at the Good Samaritan Society, your role is to help build and assess our resident activity schedule, creating fun, healthy and safe programming and events. You will plan, lead and assess all programming - both within our locations and, on occasion, outside of it. You'll assist in general resident care, including ensuring proper dress and attire, escorting residents and helping with dining experiences. You'll follow and document all necessary federal guidelines regarding supervising residents on outings and guaranteeing food safety, as well as maintaining a safe physical environment.You're qualified for this position if: You meet all qualifications outlined below.Throughout our organization, we aim to fulfill the most basic of human needs: to feel loved, valued and at peace. Are you ready to join our team?QualificationsPrior work experience in long term care is preferred; other pertinent experience includes working in any confined environment-hospitals, prison, school, hospice, day care, group home, residential care, or psychiatric setting. Completion of an activity training program or ability to complete such program approved by the location and the state in which the location is located is necessary.Ability and desire to be creative in adapting programs and supplies to meet individual resident needs.If assigned on Alzheimer’s Unit, training in working with residents with dementia; training for communication skills in working with visually/hearing impaired, aphasic residents or other specific disabilities (stroke, CHF, etc.) and validation techniques are preferred.The Good Samaritan Society offers an attractive, employee-approved benefits package for qualifying employees.
