General Description and Essential FunctionsThe Senior Item Processing Specialist plays a key role in the department. This person is able to handle complex and non routine issues by using their experience and knowledge to support bank needs in a timely manner. This position may provide supervision to team members.The hours of this position are generally 11:30am-8:30pm, however this position requires flexibility and will involve working past 8:30pm at times to ensure that all end of day processes for the department have been completed.

Perform all duties of the Item Processing Specialist I and II as needed.

Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the department with a focus on the following Item Processing functions: The review and balancing of incoming and outgoing transactions for accuracy, including mobile deposit and large dollar review, Researching and resolving out of balance situations, Preparing and sending outgoing cash letters, Uploading transactions to the Bank's core system and completing all Item Processing end-of-day processes.

Resolve escalated and complex non-routine issues with little or no management assistance, while ensuring compliance with regulations and audit standards.

Assist with the successful implementation of projects, conversions/acquisitions and testing of new system functionality.

Troubleshoot issues, collaborating with vendors and internal departments on resolution.

Assist manager with team member training and coaching.

Prepare and deliver reports to management regarding productivity and accuracy.

Assists in departmental procedure writing.

Recommend and drive process improvements.

Actively identify and report potential risks and fraudulent activities to the appropriate parties.

Provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers in a timely manner.

Manage multiple types of inquiries in a professional, fast-paced and high volume environment.

Exercise discretion, strong interpersonal skills and independent judgment.

Interact with team members in a leadership role including individual and group training, team meetings, team huddles and 1:1’s.

Cross train and learn other functions within other areas of operations, as needed.

Qualifications/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

4+ years of banking experience preferred or demonstrated ability to perform the job functions.

Training experience; ability to train policy and procedures effectively.

NCP Certification preferred.

Leadership skills and capabilities.

Dependable and able to work within specific time constraints.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment; possess strong sense of urgency and responsiveness and be held to minimum production standards.

Advanced computer skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet.

Accurate data entry/transaction processing.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Detail oriented.
