Kelly Scientific Resources is seeking a Senior Scientist for our client in Celina, TN! This is a small animal vivarium and laboratory focused on mammalian cell culture, antibody expression and purification, and hybridoma development.We are seeking a proven leader to manage the day-to-day scientific operations for our cell culture and antibody laboratory facilities in Celina, TN. This position requires a reliable individual devoted to mentoring an enthusiastic team and cultivating a motivating environment geared towards meeting the needs of our clients.MUST HAVE:
A PhD in Immunology, BioChemistry, or a related discipline
Previous supervisory experience in an industry environment (may accept other supervisory experience)
Responsibilities:
Act as a scientific leader with the ability to drive innovation, lead projects and teams, solve complex technical problems, and work independently and in cross-functional teams
Manage the day to day scientific operations for a team of 4-6 research associates
Train personnel in proper cell culture and other applicable techniques
Generate, analyze, document and communicate high quality data in team meetings and to clients
Foster teamwork and provide timely and accurate feedback to lab personnel
Track project progress ensuring project milestones are delivered according to timeline requirements
Interface with the Protein Sciences Nashville team for collaborative projects/ proposals
Required Education and Experience:
A Ph.D. in Immunobiology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field and a minimum of 3 years professional experience (or a Master’s degree and 10+ years of professional experience) in mammalian cell culture techniques including generation and characterization of clonal recombinant cell lines
Experience in leadership position(s) including responsibility for management of multiple (3+) direct reports
Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment, and to mentor and train others
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
Critical thinking, highly self-motivated, flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and resources
Effective communication, both verbal and written
Preferred skills:Strong preference will be given to candidate with extensive hands-on experience in one or more of the following:
Various FPLC/AKTA chromatography techniques
Hybridoma technology
SPR techniques (Hands-on experience with Biacore SPR)
Troubleshooting isolation of monoclonal antibodies specific for ‘difficult’ proteins. Strategies for breaking tolerance to mouse self-proteins
In vivo mouse experience strongly preferred
