Tennessee’s members are experiencing steady activity. Chattanooga’s bright prospects for the next 5 to 6 years come from employer demand in hydro, fossil fuel and a handful of nuclear power generating facilities. Each require between 80-200 people on regular shutdowns for maintenance and upgrading.

There are also high-tech companies and a variety of large manufacturing plants moving into the area.

Our Oak Ridge local provides workers to Oakridge National Laboratory. When the project peaks in 4 to 5 years, it will require 400-500 inside wiremen for about a year. The project has a 10-year lifespan.

Line workers are in high demand, with frequent open calls for linemen and apprentices.

Total journeyman electrician wage and benefit packages in the state range from the mid-$30s to the low $40s/hour.

Employers provide good healthcare and retirement packages to members and their families.

In Tennessee we have combined Residential/Commercial/Industrial AND Line Locals in:

Memphis, Martin, Chattanooga, Oak Ridge, Nashville, Knoxville, Kingsport.
