CAD Designer/Engineering Technicians in Oak Ridge, TN (Job No. 05-021919-01)
Overview:
NEC Technical Services, Inc. is seeking CAD Designers/Engineering Technicians. The CAD Designer will work with engineers from multiple disciplines to support nuclear facility and research operations. The position requires the use of Autodesk Products (AutoCAD and Inventor) to create an array of technical designs and drawings. The use of software will be approximately a 50 / 50 split between AutoCAD and Inventor. The candidate will be required to produce drawings and models varying in complexity ranging from schematics, one line electrical, P&IDs, piping layouts, HVAC, structural, equipment layouts, and 3D models. The position will also require periodic reviews and checking of drawings produced from other CAD Designers within the group.
Major Duties / Responsibilities:
Work with senior engineers and scientists across multiple disciplines to develop complex engineering designs and drawing packages
Use 2D & 3D CAD software packages to create digital assets for projects
Interface with vendors, OEMs, and distributors to gather data and select design components
Coordinate system walkdowns and equipment inspections to gather project information (photos, field measurements, as-built conditions, etc.) and document as-built conditions
Create detailed engineering drawings to communicate designs (P&ID, Logic Diagram, Electrical Wiring Diagram, Flow Diagram, Fabrication Drawing, etc.)
Collaborate with facility managers, operators, and craft to identify requirements and constraints
CAD Drafter/Engineering Tech Level I
Qualifications / Skills Required:
Mid-level experienced designer/drafter working under moderate supervision, to prepare drawings and sketches using CAD workstations and appropriate design criteria and technical manual
Performs layout and design work and utilizes theoretical and practical engineering knowledge.
Works closely with engineers to ensure coordination of designs.
HS diploma or equivalent plus experience in drafting/CAD
Min 6-8 years of experience.
CAD Drafter/Engineering Tech Level II
Qualifications / Skills Required:
Experienced designer/drafter working under moderate supervision, to prepare drawings and sketches using CAD workstations and appropriate design criteria and technical manual.
Experience using Autodesk Vault or equivalent CAD data management software
Training in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing ASME / ANSI Y14.5
Performs layout and design work and utilizes theoretical and practical engineering knowledge.
Works closely with engineers to ensure coordination of designs.
HS diploma or equivalent plus experience in drafting/CAD. Associates degree is preferred.
Certification in AutoCAD or Inventor
Min 10-12 years of experience.
