Job Description:
Seeking an experienced corporate paralegal to join a busy corporate legal department in the Knoxville area. This is a fixed term, full-time contract position approved through year end 2019. The corporate paralegal must work on-site at the clientâs office.
Job Summary and Description:
Supports legal and compliance team as a legal assistant, primarily in providing support to attorneys handling corporate, transactional, and litigation matters as well as license negotiators.
Key Responsibilities:
Create, support, file and track legal dockets, including physical and virtual files.
Be a point person for questions and requests for Legal assistance.
Handles, monitors, and tracks workflow for the Legal Team on lifecycle management computer system and other measures as appropriate.
Obtains relevant information and documentation to support transactional matters handled by the Legal Team.
Handles requests for tax exemption certificates and equivalent documents for non-US jurisdictions.
Provides litigation and related support under direct supervision of department attorney(s), including support for discovery requests and subpoenas.
Tracks bankruptcy proceedings and files related documentation.
Teams with other members of the Legal staff to complete various projects.
Supports real estate matters, transactions and open text (Enterprise Content Management, or ECM)
Education and Experience:
1-5 years paralegal or equivalent experience
BA/BS degree required
Paralegal certificate in California, North Carolina or Tennessee
Notary Public is a plus
Experience with processing tax exemption certificates, discovery requests, subpoenas, export control and litigation
Skills and Attributes:
Proficiency with office computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe, etc.)
SAP and contract life cycle management software experience
Familiarity with ECM, Box or other open text software
Ability to manage complex and voluminous projects without supervision
Good at proofreading and redlining documents or making edits based on comments from internal and external attorneys, negotiators and others
