Kelly Services is looking to hire several Site Logistics Operators/Material Handlers in Knoxville, TN for an industry leading chemical company. For this opportunity, you could be placed as a Chemical Finished Product Operator or a Polymers Packaging/Warehousing/Shipping Operator on a long-term, indefinite assignment. You will be working with chemicals and should be comfortable doing such - either with previous experience or the willingness to learn. Shift Information: Rotating 12 hour shifts (2 weeks AM shift and then 2 weeks of the PM shift if on a seven day operation or 1 week on nights, one week on days, and one week with two AM shifts and two PM shifts if on a five day schedule) We need you to be flexible to work weekends as scheduled or needed $16/hour Job Duties: Operate bulk loading, packaging, blending and sampling equipment and ensure that the product is packaged and prepared to specifications Perform in-process and post-process sampling and analysis Perform required cleaning operations for piping systems, tanks, and associated equipment. Understand/generate/review all applicable shipping documents for inbound and outbound shipments Receive and process Loading/Unloading/Packaging Schedules: Review appropriate schedule for loading/unloading Identify all resources required to successfully, safely, accurately, and efficiently complete schedules. Identify constraints and/or restrictions that may impact the ability to fulfill work schedules. Review schedule and paperwork for special instructions. Monitor schedule completion and take appropriate action. Filter and transfer product Understand requirements of all modes of transportation (MOTs) including loading/unloading equipment. Load to/from storage tanks, drums, totes, and trailers/rail cars Receive and ship materials, supplies, and waste into and out of the facility “ verifying quantities, materials, packaging requirements, reviewing certificate of analysis (where required), completing data entry into SAP Store/retrieve packaged raw materials and supplies from warehouses utilizing FIFO (first-in, first-out) Perform routine maintenance activities Operate forklift “ loading/unloading trailers, warehousing, staging materials, emptying dumpsters Maintain proper hazardous communication, 5S, GMP, and housekeeping standards in the department “ cleaning, auditing, labeling, storage, recycling, disposal. Meet all regulatory requirements (DOT, OSHA, HAZCOM, GMP) Serve in team roles as assigned/designated, such as maintenance, safety, supplies, quality, information, etc. and assume share of responsibility for mission accomplishment as indicated by "measures of performance" and participate in group activities. Maintain daily/weekly/monthly records and reports, including shift rounds, safety equipment inspections, and web-based data entry per record retention requirements. Attend training and communication meetings as required/scheduled Perform periodic general activities, such tree/brush trimming, painting, moving furniture, moving/storing boxes and equipment, snow/ice removal, labeling, operating sweepers and other cleaning equipment, loading empty residue containers (drums and IBCs) onto trailers Daily computer use (SAP, e-mail, web-based tools, computer-based training, control systems, data entry) Understand/utilize Safety Permits and Isolation of Energy requirements Understand and follow Management of Change process Provide training to new employees/contractors as needed Physical Requirements Include: Roll and maneuver drums (typically up to 525-lbs net weight) using drum dolly Lift and carry up to 55 lb. containers/bags/equipment Pull, connect hoses and fittings Open/close drums/containers Ability to use hand tools (wrenches, pliers, ratchets, drills) Climb stairs, enter/exit spotter tractors & forklifts (extensive) Cleaning of storage tanks, rail cars, and tank trucks Must pass physical exam Must be able to wear a full-face respirator Ability to work 12 hr shifts, rotating shifts, and night shifts Additional Requirements: High School Diploma or GED 2+ years of warehousing or manufacturing work experience OR a 2 or 4 year degree Chemical experience is preferred Basic computer skills Military experience desirable 2+year Forklift experience a plus Valid Drivers License required Important Information: this position is recruited for by a remote Kelly office, not your local Kelly branch.
