Aerotek is looking to hire an Metallurgical Laboratory Technician position in the Greeneville, TN area. This position is looking to start immediately. This position is a 2nd shift opportunity. The position starts at $20 - $25/HR based on experience. Candidates must possess prior experience working heat treatment as a Metallurgical Laboratory TechnicianThe responsibilities and qualifications for the positions are listed below:Responsibilities:Perform metallurgical test work in the Met Lab, including sample preparation and inventoryEvaluate and interpret process metallurgical date, including measuring the hardness, strength, flexibility and other properties of metals and alloysConduct routine microscopic examinations of metals and alloys to determine their crystal structure, porosity, homogeneity and other characteristicsPolish or etch metal specimens and photograph samplesPerform tests that show how metals and alloys change as they are heated, forged, or weldedAssure the correct analysis and reporting of samples submitted to the metallurgical laboratoryAssure the correct operation of the production bonding, heat-treatment, and NDT processesAssure management is appropriately informed of suspect product created by, or passed through operationsActively participate in training operators using heat-treating and NDT processesSupport and participate in process improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing tools and techniques as requiredIdentify root causes and solutions to current production problemsAssist in the development heat treatment and NDT processes for new productsPerform tasks as assigned by Supervisor and/or Team LeaderPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand or sit for extended period of time.Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Moderate twisting and bending.Moderate climbing on step stools or platforms The essential duties and responsibilities described above are subject to management discretion and may be changed at any time based upon corporate need or reasonable accommodation.
