DescriptionIf you're an experienced accountant with a keen eye for accuracy, there's an exciting opportunity through Accountemps for you to check out at a firm in the Service industry. The responsibilities of a Staff Accountant entail preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. Many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close will be your reponsibility. This position will also require you to participate in compliance, as well as communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. A good deal of time in this position will be spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. The Memphis, Tennessee based company is offering this position on a short-term temporary-to-full-time basis. They provide an innovative work environment where effort is rewarded.Your responsibilities
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Requirements
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Strong attention to detail
experienced organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Strong familiarity with general ledger
Excel Formulas experience highly desired
Account reconciliation experience
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience preferred
Journal entries experience preferred
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Strong analytical capabilities and discernment
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Ability to meet deadlines
Efficient in Great Plains software systems.
