Looking for Accounts Payable Clerk (Temporary) for Nashville.
The Accounts Payable Clerk will m aintain complete and systematic records regarding all accounts payable and employee reimbursement accounts. Provide timely, accurate payment of all properly authorized expenses. Ensure adherence to company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviews all invoices and expense reports submitted for payment as follows:
Proper approval
Authenticity
Accuracy
Proper description of services/materials
Price
Compliance with sales tax laws
Prevent payment duplication
Follows up with the appropriate person(s) to correct inaccurate or missing information on invoices and expense reports
Vouchers invoices and expense reports with the appropriate vendor/employee codes, general ledger accounts, and project numbers as necessary
Enters vouchers into the BST accounting system and posts them once reviewed
Prepares and maintains computer-generated reports detailing all accounts payable activity
Maintains system of filing check documentation and backup
Obtains complete and accurate vendor tax information when adding new vendors and updates records when change notifications are received
Ensures checks are properly signed by authorized check signer
Alerts Management to problems, avoids late fees, manages manual checks, as well as maintains check number log and cash disbursements worksheet
Serves as the petty cash custodian
Assumes other accounting responsibilities assigned by management
An ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:
High school degree or GED equivalent and three years applicable experience in the accounting system of a professional service company or similar organization
Written Communication Skills - ability to clearly deliver a message through written words using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Speech Clarity - ability to speak clearly and in a common language so that others can understand you
Judgment and Decision-Making Skills - ability to make reasoned judgments that are logical and well thought out; constructively questioning and analyzing information in order to make the best conclusion
Organizational Skills - can marshal resources (people, funding, material, support, etc.) to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish goals; uses resources effectively & efficiently; arranges information & files in a useful manner
Detail-Oriented - ability to achieve accuracy and thoroughness when accomplishing a task; pays attention to details and is able to understand what caused a certain outcome
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Accounting software experience (BST accounting software ideal)
