Position OverviewThe Main Line Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work in accordance with BMW and dealership standards. This role includes diagnosing vehicle malfunctions, executing repairs with precision, and supervising apprentice technicians as assigned.Key Responsibilities Receive repair orders from the dispatcher and proceed to the assigned service stallPerform repair and maintenance work with efficiency and accuracy according to dealership and factory standardsDiagnose vehicle malfunctions and determine appropriate repair solutionsCommunicate with the parts department to obtain necessary componentsConduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify additional safety or service requirementsNotify the service advisor of any additional work needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframeSave and tag parts for warranty claims or as requested by customersDocument all work performed accurately and completelyRoad-test vehicles when required or coordinate with the test technician, ensuring customer vehicles are not used for personal errandsSupervise and mentor apprentice technicians assigned to your teamMaintain current knowledge of factory technical bulletins and attend factory-sponsored training classesEnsure customer vehicles remain clean throughout the service processMaintain a neat and organized shop area and account for all dealership-owned toolsComply with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposalFollow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report any accidents to management
