Please read this entire ad before responding. It is intentionally long to try to weed out a lot of people that we don't want to apply. We are a fast growing mowing and landscape business looking to hire for several landscaping and mowing positions. These are full time positions, and they are NOT cash or under-the-table. You will be hired outright from day one and paid weekly. Below are the positions and qualifications for each:
Landscape Foreman - Starting pay would be based on your qualifications, but as a general range could be anywhere from $15-$20 an hour or more starting with plenty of room to move up. Starting pay is based on your knowledge and experience with the following:
Required (don't have to have all, but the more the better):
* Experience either with a legitimate mowing/landscape company we can verify (for some reason everyone worked for a landscape company in Florida that's out of business now), or your own business if it was legitimate and not just side work (meaning you had a business name and license, paid taxes, and have work you can prove you did. Random pictures on your phone are not proof its really your work.) We wont call your current employer unless we are ready to hire you, and even then not without your permission first.
* basic landscaping knowledge and experience such as fertilizing, aerating, overseeding, mulching. shrub trimming, etc
* basic experience with landscape design (designing beds, choosing plants, etc.)
* knowledge of proper plant/tree care and pruning
* experience in hardscaping such as retaining walls and pavers (design, layout, grading, drainage, digging foundations, leveling, etc)
* experience operating landscaping equipment such as bobcats, excavators, aerators, bed edgers, etc.
* ability to work in a team environment, deal with customers, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing
* ability to complete work with a high level of detail and quality and within acceptable timeframes. Taking way too long to do everything, and then doing bad work on top of that, has been a huge problem in the past.
* valid drivers license and pretty good 5 year driving record including NO DUIs in last 5 years (our insurance company will pull your driving record and determine if you can be added as a driver, so its not up to us.
'Forgetting' a lot of things wont help you either).
* This is a WORKING position, meaning you wont just ride around in the truck and bark orders all day and make others do all the work. You will have to dig, shovel, carry, wheelbarrow, stack, trim, rake, etc., even though you will have help available as well. Everyone has to take their lumps and prove themselves before they transition to easier jobs.
* You will have to interview for this position so we can talk to you in depth and in person to see what you know and can do.
Preferred but not required:
* experience supervising others
* irrigation knowledge/experience
* landscape lighting experience
* snow plowing experience (driving a plow truck)
Landscape helper - $9-$13/hr depending on your knowledge and experience. No experience is required, but it is preferred. We can train the right person.
* landscaping knowledge and experience such as fertilizing, aerating, overseeding, mulching. shrub trimming, etc
* basic design experience (flower beds, plant selection, etc)
* at least basic experience with hardscapes as a helper
Flex position: $9-$13/hr depending on knowledge and experience
*At least basic experience with mowing AND landscaping and the ability to switch back and forth depending on where you are needed.
Mowing crew leader: $12-$15/hr depending on knowledge and experience
*Must have a valid drivers license and pretty good 5 year driving record including NO DUIs in last 5 years (our insurance company will pull your driving record and determine if you can be added as a driver, so its not up to us.
'Forgetting' a lot of things wont help you either).
*Must have knowledge and experience with zero turn mowers (sit downs and walk behinds), striping, weedeating, blowing, edging correctly, supervising others, proper mowing height, etc.
*Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing and complete required paperwork weekly.
Crew positions: Mowers/weedeaters $9-$12/hr depending on your experience
*Experience preferred but not required. We can train the right person.

We normally get a lot of responses to these ads, so you need to separate yourself out from the others by being detailed in your response. Just saying "I can do everything you listed, call me"is not a good way to reply and we probably wont even call you. Please do not overstate what you can do, just be honest. You will have to prove you know and can do the things you say you can. If you can't do certain things or don't have experience with them that's ok, we can train if necessary, and very very few people can do everything. Most people that come here have some bad habits we have to train out anyway, so don't be offended by that. Qualified applicants will be scheduled for an interview.

* You are lazy. These jobs are physical in nature, fast paced, and aren't desk jobs. You will work in the heat and the cold and the rain and everything in between, sometimes for long hours. If you are out of shape, or hate the heat or the cold, or have physical issues that prevent you from doing this kind of work, please don't apply.
* You have trouble making it to work or always need off for something. We've heard all the excuses, excuses don't get work done, and you are either a person who comes to work or you aren't.
* You have drug or alcohol issues, transportation issues, legal issues, or any other home or personal issues that affect your job performance or attendance. We cover everyone on workers comp and you are not covered if you cant pass a drug/alcohol test if you get injured. We deal with a lot of equipment and machinery, and parts of this work can be hazardous at times. We will drug/alcohol test you if we feel it's necessary, especially for positions that require driving a vehicle, and we have a zero tolerance policy for all employees.
* You cant get along with other people, aren't trustworthy, or just want a paycheck but don't want to to earn it. If you work hard and do what you're asked you can move up fast regardless of where you start.
* You spend a lot of time BSing/smoking/joking/talking/texting/checking your phone/surfing the internet/aimlessly wondering around doing nothing instead of working. You can do all that stuff on your own time, plus you already spend a lot of time getting paid to ride around in a truck.
