Position available soon at an Abingdon law firm for a paralegal/legal assistant.
Established law firm in Abingdon, VA is seeking a qualified candidate to join our busy practice. Qualified candidates should have a working knowledge of all local court systems and the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment. A Legal Assistant/Paralegal certificate is desirable. A minimum of 2 years experience in the legal field is preferable, but not required.
Preference will be given to individuals that possess the following:
Ability to think and work without specific direction
Prompt response to requests and needs of attorneys and clients
Ability to maintain multiple calendars and deadlines and handle scheduling conflicts
Main liaison with other attorney offices, Clerk's Office and Judicial Assistants
Comfort and ability to be first contact & main liaison with most clients
Advanced experience with Adobe, Word, and Excel
Ability to operate advanced office equipment, particularly scanners and cloud-based software
A proficiency with Google and Google Apps
Professional telephone skills and familiarity with advanced phone systems
Prompt and courteous phone service
Proficiency with CM/ECF system
Experience with Chapter 7 Bankruptcies and bankruptcy software
Ability to maintain all account payables/receivables, with specific working knowledge of Virginia's Remittance Electronic Data Interchange, DC-40 Forms, and the Tennessee AOC Claims and Payment (ACAP) system (formerly the Indigent Claim Entry (ICE))
Knowledge of legal management software particularly Clio Legal Practice Management Software
