The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical, managerial and all-around small animal support to the Hawkins County Humane Society in Rogersville, TN.
II. Salary $10/hr to $12.50/hr (or salaried to $26,000)
III. Overall Responsibilities
Clinical Support
General small animal nursing care
Animal medical record manager
Clinical expertise (e.g., subcutaneous fluids, drawing blood, fecal and heartworm analysis, etc.)
Administer meds, detect and help treat animal illnesses, develop intake wellness protocols
Develop Standard Operating Procedures for intake, medical oversight & employee roster duties
All-Around Support & Assist Shelter Manager
Management of employees (3-4)
Adoptions & Spay and Neutering
Fund raising
Animal rescues
General animal attendant duties (cleaning/disinfecting, feeding, meds, etc.)
General office work (phones, deposits, payroll prep)
Computer skills to help with social networking (Facebook), PetFinder, E-donations, etc.
IV. REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED required
Veterinary or related experience of at least two plus years in a veterinary or research setting
Previous managerial experience of two+ years with public relations & organizational skills
Four to five years of related experience strongly recommended
Must have a valid driver's license
V. USEFUL EXPERTISE
Ability to give basic to semi-advanced small animal nursing care
Ability to maintain accurate animal and office records
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to be proactive in recognizing tasks and ability to multi-task
Good computer skills including Facebook, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Petfinder, etc.
Ability to work under stressful or demanding conditions
Ability to work with others in a respectful and cooperative manner
