Your New Role

Leidos is seeking a motivated Senior Network Engineer/Telecommunications Technician to join our team within the Dept. of Defence Tactical Data Link Bureau (TDLB). Tactical Data Link’s (TDL’s) underpin the integration of the Joint Force and are vital for ADF Operations as they connect sensors and weapon systems. The TDLB supports implementation of TDL functionality through the provision of specialist Engineering Advice and Test and Evaluation services.

As the Senior Network Engineer/ Telecommunications Technician, you will work within a mixed APS, Military and Industry team responsible for conformance to standards and interoperability testing of ADF TDL systems. The Senior Network Engineer/ Telecommunications Technician will take a supporting role in the planning, scheduling and conduct of TDL test activities.

Under direction, perform the following functions as individual assignments or as part of a team:

  • Perform network engineering functions including design, implementation and optimisation.
  • Analyse, develop, enhance, secure and test complex network designs.
  • Monitor the performance of network and equipment to ensure high availability and redundancy.
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues.
  • Develop and revise network technical documentation.
  • Participate in the setup/draw down of test events utilising specialised military communication equipment. (Training will be provided)

Qualifications

About You and What You'll Bring

  • Experience working in a similar role within a communications environment.
  • CCNA, working towards CCNP.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently produce good results in a complex environment.
  • Good experience with the relevant technologies and domains.
  • Good knowledge and application of a broad range of skills including software, systems and enterprise architecture, software and hardware engineering, interface protocols.
  • High level of knowledge in Cisco tunnelling, routing protocols and VPN technologies.
  • Working knowledge of current in service cryptography devices.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as contribute in a team and professional environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple, concurrent activities, while understanding and managing priorities, dependencies and risk.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong focus on customer service and outcome.
  • Strong in resources coordination, planning and organising.
  • Proven ability to adapt and maintain a flexible approach to changing needs or priorities.
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills with attention to details.
  • Strong problem-solving skill with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation.
