WELDER/FABRICATOR

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reads blueprints, diagrams and/or schematic and job orders to interpret specifications and to determine work procedures.

Follows diagrams, blueprints and/or schematics, ensuring proper components are created and assembled correctly.

Works alone or as member of assembly group assembling various pieces and working at different work stations as production needs require or shifts from one station to another.

Fabrication expertise, including operating machines such as a drill press, hydraulic press, plasma cutter and other shop tools, and the ability to prepare steel components, assemble and weld pieces with all welding techniques (including Oxy-Acetylene, MIG, TIG and SMAW)

Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders and interfaces with others in the organization.

Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.

Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

Analyzes and resolves work problems, or if requested assists workers in solving work problems.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Certification from a trade or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

This job does not require computer skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Other than the above educational requirement, this job requires no certificates, licenses, or registrations. However, a welding certificate for at least 4G is preferred and any further certification is highly beneficial.

Other Qualifications:

Able to accurately measure with a tape measure and square to 1/32", read blue prints and convert decimals to fractions. Must be able to work overtime on an as-needed basis to maintain production deadlines. Forklift license required.
