The

Cook will be reporting to the Food Services Manager, you will be responsible for the proper and timely preparation of meals including, but not limited to, food service, food safety and supervision of kitchen staff.

Your work will include:

• Always maintaining a clean kitchen and food storage areas.
• Prepares and cooks foods according to recipe standards utilizing advanced culinary techniques including knowledge of specialized diets. Prepares food ensuring that strict safety standards are followed.
• Plans, pulls and preps ingredients.
• May plan menus and estimate required food quantities, labor and overhead costs.
• May lead and mentor others acting as first point of escalation. May participate in interviewing, training and onboarding process as needed. Participates in performance improvement initiatives as needed.
• Be flexible and respond to client needs and food preferences as necessary.
• Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety regulations and Safe Food Handling/Health Unit regulations.
• Adhere to all relevant Dexterra and hospital policies and procedures.
• May lead the work of kitchen assistants in preparing, cooking and storing food, and in maintaining kitchen and storage facilities in sanitary condition.
• Manage inventory. Maintain accurate, signed records of meals served.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Part time or Full time Cook
• Minimum 3 years of Healthcare Facilityrelated experience
• Minimum 3 years of Cooking experience
• A clear criminal background check is required for this role.
