The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to join UTA during an exciting period of growth and contribute as the university broadens its impact.Job SummaryThis role acts as the Public Works Institute (PWI) Assistant Director for the EEC’s division. The Assistant Director assists in the direction of the public works professional development programs and contracts, as well as maintain and grow current and new relationships with Texas local government agencies, the Texas Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, highway construction contractors, and more.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Direct, manage, and supervise Public Works Institute staff and the day-to-day operations of the program.

Collaborate with Director, Executive Director, staff, Division, and University resources to ensure successful execution of all programs.

Assist Director in budget development, preparation and tracking of invoices, approval of expenditures, and ensuring payment of expenses.

Ensure programs are financially sustainable.

Create and maintain appropriate financial measurements.

Identify, hire, and manage appropriate staff, instructors and/or consultants to support programs.

Oversee instructor assignments and scheduling ensuring instructors are properly qualified and all required documentation is processed.

Create, maintain, and market programs, such as catalog production, email, social media to targeted populations to continually promote and expand public works training.

Seek and respond to RFPs and create proposals for contract work and grant opportunities.

Prepare financial and business analysis for the annual budget process, annual strategic plan, and other financial or operational plans.

Represent the Public Works Institute and Texas Local Technical Assistance Program at conferences, events, luncheons, and meetings.

Plan and organize annual PWI instructor meeting and other events. Develop and give presentations as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Engineering, Science or related degree with a minimum of (5) five years of experience in program coordination and performing a variety of administrative functions; Or seven (7) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Engineering, Science, or a related field.

Two (2) years or more of experience in administrative management of a complex training program.

Experience in maintaining a curriculum and training materials library, managing materials distribution, and managing a program budget.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent business, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Project management and social media skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Accounting knowledge and advanced spreadsheet skills.
