The Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting is responsible for the administration of the financial and corporate management reporting function. This position is responsible for researching, resolving, and documenting complex accounting issues and transactions such as stock-based compensation, equity accounting, leases, and other non- recurring transactions. This position will also assist in preparation of SEC filings including 10Q, 10K, Proxy statement and press releases. Responsibilities also include analysis and documentation of monthly operating results, ad hoc financial reporting, management of budgeting and forecasting processes. Specific Job Responsibilities
Perform research of new accounting pronouncements and regulations (FASB, SEC, etc.)
Document the impact of GAAP guidance, including new standards in a formal memorandum
Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual filings with SEC (Proxy Statement, 8-K, 10-Q, 10-K and others), including XBRL tagging of SEC documents
Create corporate presentations (internal and external) as well as create and maintain dashboards
Review and analyze operating results and trends and help identify operational steps necessary to increase sales and profits.
Provide month-end analysis to identify opportunity areas and review of expenses to ensure accurate reporting
Provide analytical and presentation support for leadership and department directors including variance analysis, trend analysis, and economic analysis of capital projects.
Assist in development of programs and special projects designed to gather data and ultimately improve operational efficiencies at our restaurants
Preparation of quarterly board of directors’ package
Manage annual budgeting process and assist ongoing forecasting process.
Weekly cash forecasting and cash ad hoc reporting
Develop analysis templates, trend analysis, and economic analysis of capital projects
Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum of a BA in Accounting.
CPA or in the process of completing the licensing requirement.
Minimum 5+ years of total accounting experience.
Ability to research and interpret accounting guidance and draft accounting memos to support conclusions
Strong understanding and application of GAAP and SEC/financial reporting requirements including financial statements and financial statement footnotes.
Strong Excel modeling and PowerPoint presentation skills.
Adaptive Insights or similar Financial Planning & Analyst platform experience.
Comfortable in dealing with and navigating through large amounts of data.
Must be able to effectively manage critical deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and organized with the desire for continuous improvement
Preferred:
At least 2 + years of Big-4 or Tier 1 accounting firm experience
