Title: Plant Manager – TXSX Plant, Austin

Classification: Salaried plus production bonus

Report to: VP of Manufacturing

Job Type: Full-time

Principle Purpose of Job: The Plant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the entire plant, including manufacturing, inventory, shipping, and receiving.

Examples of Duties:

-Oversee all operations in the Austin, Texas Plant:

1. Rollforming – production of down spouts, elbows, offsets, and other various items using electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic machinery

2. Stamping – production of end caps, miters, hangers, and other various items using stamping presses

3. Inventory Management – The stocking, storage, and cycle count of all items produced, shipped to, and kept on hand in the plant using handheld computers, inventory software, and hand counting techniques

4. Shipping/Receiving – receipt of finished product from outside sources, order picking of inventory, proper loading of trailers, and shipping of products to branches.

5. Waste Management – employ all policies, procedures, and best practices to reduce the production of scrap and waste material to acceptable levels.

-Order and maintain sufficient supply of all needed plant supplies.

-Human Resources - Manage assistant plant manager, 3 department supervisors, and production coordinator. Assure proper procedures for disciplinary actions for plant personnel. Maintains proper new hire paperwork. Acts as liaison between employees and Human Resources department when needed. Participates in the hiring process and termination of plant employee's as needed

-Scheduling – Oversee the management of plant employee's payroll, and paid time off to ensure all departments in the plant are adequately staffed at all times.

-Additional duties as required.

Contacts: The Plant Manager works closely with the VP of Manufacturing, Product Team, Inventory Team, Purchasing Team, and plant personnel to ensure plant operations run smoothly. Also corresponds with human resources regarding personnel inquiries.

Supervision: Directly oversees Assistant Plant Manager, Department Supervisors of Rollforming, Stamping, and Shipping/Receiving.

Accountability: Accountable for day-to-day plant operations, production standards, plant cleanliness, safety, training, and overall success of the plant.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to a warehouse setting.

Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds. Hearing and sight sufficient to work around forklifts and other typical warehouse equipment used to move large items and physical agility sufficient to remove the employee from the danger of falling items is necessary.

Qualification Guidelines

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

-Knowledge of industrial plant operations and management including set up and maintenance of same

-Basic skills required to effectively manage personnel

-Knowledge of basic computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, and ERP systems

-Ability to manage multiple functions at one time

-Ability to accurately perform in depth mathematical calculations and prepare reports.

-Ability to hold strict confidence.

-Ability to maintain attention to detailed information.

-Ability to effectively communicate and understand detailed and/or technical information.

-Mechanical knowledge/expertise with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic operation/maintenance/repair

-Bilingual – able to converse proficiently in Spanish

Experience/Education:

-10 to 15 years of progressive supervisory experience in industrial manufacturing environments

-Degree in Business/Manufacturing Engineering a plus

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and climb

Must be able to lift 50 pounds individually and team lift 100 pounds throughout a workday

Willingness to operate a forklift and pallet jack after training

Ability to manage multiple functions at one time

Valid Driver's License and good driving record

Handle petty cash as needed
