Job Description: The Business Intelligence Analyst will leverage Business Intelligence and Data Analytics best practices to deliver relevant, timely and insightful information to the business while helping grow and champion the organization around BI. This includes data modeling, management, report creation and optimization, documentation, as well as end user education and training. Understanding and assisting in the development of reports, analysis and visualization of business data, metrics, and measures to enable alignment of multiple business groups against overall business strategies, goals and objectives, drive innovation, insight and decision making.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist in data management, cleaning, modeling, integration, reporting and visualization projects within the Business Analytics team, as well as discussions with vendors, customers, and business partners
Design and develop high-performance data visualizations, reports and dashboards utilizing Power BI or other analytics-focused tools, including the structuring of complex problems
Develop and deliver situation-specific analysis and presentations to support key business decisions, process improvements, and efficiency improvement opportunities
Design and deploy self-service reporting models using Power BI or other similar analytics-focused tools
Manage and fulfill ad hoc information requests submitted to the BI team
Use advanced statistical methods to analyze data and generate useful business insights, including algorithms such as clustering, time series, classification, and other machine learning approaches
Contribute to designing and building our production data warehouse
Interface with employees at all levels of the company to understand business needs and contact with C-suite executives
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM field or equivalent work experience that evidences analytical thinking and problem solving
5+ years of experience with data analytics and report development, queries, and modeling, preferably in a logistics / freight forwarding setting
Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI reports development and maintenance, Power Query and model building
Proficiency in MS Excel, Power Point, and Office suite
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals
High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
Strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive
Analytical mindset and passion for gleaning actionable insights from raw data
Ability to recognize abnormalities in trends, boundary problems and thresholds
Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
Strong team-oriented mindset and the ability to foster that environment, as well as to share responsibilities with peers
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree or equivalent in STEM field with demonstrated drive towards data-heavy fields
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and manage change in a highly dynamic environment
Demonstrated ability to work with executive-level stakeholders
3+ years of experience at a logistics environment and demonstrated knowledge of the industry’s dynamics
Proficiency in data analytics, including – but not limited to - SQL, R , and Python scripts, and Microsoft Suite tools
Proven track record of managing and executing projects from start to finish, including project management, data gathering and modeling, problem solving and communicating recommendations to internal or external clients
Advanced Power Query and Dax capabilities
