Vaco is seeking discerning individuals plugged into internet technologies at the intersection of
geopolitical and user harm issues. You'll be working at the leading edge of researching
fast-developing issues and trends like the spread of misinformation, fraud, or potential breaches in
election integrity. The location for this role is flexible, our team is located in Austin, TX.

Minimum Qualifications (in addition to your team's minimum qualifications):
BA/BS Degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Law, Criminal
Justice, Forensic Accounting, Forensic Science, Data Mining, or related field.
4+ years experience in relevant fields (Data Analysis, Research, Risk and Fraud
Investigation, Internet Industry, Intelligence, Politics, International Relations, Law
Enforcement).
Broad understanding of a wide range of global socio-political dynamics and how they can
impact the user experience.
Comfort with exposure to / ability to review sensitive content.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate abstract
concepts and extract pertinent details from various sources of information, and summarize
them logically and effectively in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Interest and ability to keep up with technical discussions.
Experience producing and leveraging analysis of malicious, criminal, and/or violent actors
(states, groups, and individuals) in cyberspace.
Familiarity with information operations Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).
Comfortable / thrives with a certain amount of chaos / ambiguity.
Familiarity in one or more of the following areas: Coding (e.g., C/C, Python, Java),
Databases and querying (e.g., SQL, MySQL, MapReduce, Hadoop), Front end development
(e.g., HTML, JavaScript, CSS), Statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS).
Good knowledge of web research, online advertising, fraud detection, numerical analysis,
search engine optimization, and/or e-commerce.

Responsibilities:
Research and analysis:
Review various sources on a daily basis to highlight any clear indicators, directions,
and trending developments that impact T&S
Issue hourly short-form, contextualized analysis covering new emerging trends and
threats that impact T&S
Help maintain a global sensitive events calendar that tracks key events and dates that may impact the company and its products, updated at least weekly to capture the most up-to-date information.
Maintain and refine category lists for organizing analyses in a database, updated at
least weekly.
Perform database hygiene, reviewing prior analyses for completeness, grammar,
punctuation, and other issues.
Guidance and feedback:
Provide usefulness feedback to the Detection team who will be escalating trends or
threats from your analyses to product teams.
Review findings and analyses with analysts during weekly scrums.
