The

User Experience and Design team is responsible for designing innovative, best-in-class solutions across mobile, web and desktop platforms. We are a multi-disciplinary group of user experience designers, visual designers, prototypers and researchers. We collaborate with business and technology partners across the enterprise to build software experiences our users' are passionate about.

We are looking for a seasoned UX Leader and design visionary who will be responsible for a program of work, can lead an existing UX team and provide functional product partnership. We are on a journey to build the future of financial services. We help our clients plan for their future and they are passionate about the tools and experiences we provide.

Why your work matters:

  • You will lead the Retail Onboarding, Activation & Growth teams that manage and manage the end-to-end digital experience that helps clients start and deepen their relationship with the firm, and the platform that delivers this experience at scale.
  • You will work with the Product Team and Leadership to help develop the digital tools that make it easier for Schwab representatives and their clients to do business.
  • You are a UX leader that knows how to collaborate, manage a design team and can help us craft the future of this experience and platform.
  • You will have the opportunity to provide thought leadership and assistance in developing the client experience and platform strategy; communicating and rallying the team and partners toward shared outcomes.


What you are good at

Design Consulting
  • Provides thought partnership, direction and design solutions with a multi-faceted team, taking into account how digital, physical, and service channels work together.
  • Facilitate collaborative design sessions including sketching and ideation, both remote and/or in-person
  • Effectively partners with product, technology and business stakeholders, leads design reviews with teams and drives decision making.
  • Represent the design team brand and deliver a consistent design process to partners.
  • Understand great designs are achieved iteratively through our Discovery and Delivery process our product development lifecycle.
  • Visualize ideas in a clear form (sketch, diagram, wireframe or prototype) and provide appropriate level documentation.
  • Presents UX with executive presence including data backed decisions on rationale (analytics, research, usability studies, etc).

Design Management
  • Set expectation with the Product team, UX Team and help prioritize activities.
  • Create and maintain design schedules.
  • Communicate status and agreements with project team.
  • Mentor design leads and provide creative direction to UX Design team members.
  • Work with UX Research team members on plan generative and evaluative activities to ensure that our design decisions are based on data.
  • Work with UX Content Strategy team members on content activities, including strategy and deliverables.
  • Review work with fellow UX Directors where required, and keep Managers updated on project status while escalating items appropriately.

Team and People Management
  • Manage and mentor a team of designers, researchers and content writers to grow the team's capabilities and impact within the organization
  • Takes time to get to know the team and cross-functional partners, is collaborative and provides a supportive environment to excel.
  • Brings teams together to resolve issues and deal with any necessary escalations in an appropriate manner.

What you have

  • 10 + years of rich interaction design focused on digital products.
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams.
  • 2+ year of interaction design experience for touch-based mobile interfaces is a plus.
  • An online portfolio demonstrating digital design process and thinking.
  • Experienced with all aspects of a user-centered interaction design process, including user research, user flows, wireframes, usability testing, and annotated design specifications.
  • Experience working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team within an iterative process and an Agile development methodology.
  • Experimental and innovative mindset.
  • Ability to communicate complex messages and trade-offs and tell a compelling story.
  • Strong self-management skills, comfortable with substantial responsibility, working directly with our client partners, and capable of managing your project schedules.
  • Proficient in design tools like Figma, Mural, InVision, Sketch, Axure, etc.
  • Experience running design sessions with cross-functional teams.
  • Comfort in a project-oriented work environment, with a positive attitude and solid work ethic.


Colorado Compensation

Target Total Compensation - 113,000 - 253,000
