The Core Compute engineering team in OCI is responsible for supporting critical Compute products, feature, and services, such as Instance Pools & Autoscaling, Compute Console (customer facing website for OCI Compute), Bare Metal and Compute Platform, HPC, Operating Systems & Infrastructure, OCI Registry, Artifact Registry, and Compute SRE and Tooling automation efficiencies.

The ideal candidate for this role must have a strong software and systems background with the ability to operate at the intersection of compute, networking, OS and hardware.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Exceptional communication skills, technically fearless and a strong product sense with the ability to seek and absorb business context, lead, and develop engineering culture, and exhibit good judgement exercised through developed critical thinking.
• 15+ years experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
• Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies.
• Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure a strong plus.

PREFERRED PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS

• Transformational, large-scale architecting experience with distributed systems.
• Software and systems level, Kernel level experience
• Ability to operate at the intersection of compute, networking, OS and Hardware

EDUCATION

An Engineering Bachelors degree is preferred. An advanced degree is a plus.
