The Capital Area Council of Governments, a regional agency serving ten Central Texas counties, is seeking candidates for its Director of the Regional Law Enforcement Academy (RLEA The academy conducts Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)-mandated training courses as well as Basic Peace Officer Courses and works with local law enforcement agencies to identify other training needs. Candidates should have experience developing lessons plans, delivering a variety of types of training, working knowledge of TCOLE academic requirements, and should have experience with budget management, use of social media, and general administrative work. CAPCOG provides paid medical, dental, and vision and provides a 401K contribution of 8% for all employees, and flexible work hours to support training schedules. Salary range $78,000-85,000 depending on qualifications.
Education
Required: Bachelors degree from accredited college/university with major coursework in criminal justice or related field.
Experience
Required: Minimum five years of experience in law enforcement training experience with working knowledge of adult education techniques and must be TCOLE certified as licensed peace officer instructor. Minimum of three years in general administrative management duties in a government agency including work with contracts, budget, and grants.
Preferred: Experience working with local government law enforcement agencies.
Experience and education can be substituted for one another.
Salary range: $78,000-85,000 depending on qualifications
