The mission of AIDS Services of Austin (ASA) is to enhance the health and well-being of the community and people affected by HIV and AIDS.ÂWe recently established a patient-centered medical home providing life-affirming HIV, PrEP, and primary care for at-risk persons in Central Texas. TheÂJack Sansing Dental Clinic provides dental care to 1,500 patients annually and has access to ASA's expanded medical clinic and complement of social services.

ASA is seeking a friendly, energetic Staff Dentist to join the team at the state-of-the-art Jack Sansing Dental Clinic to support our mission by providing quality, patient-centered, and compassionate dental care for a culturally diverse patient population from the Central Texas region. Under the direction of the Clinical Director and Lead Dentist, the Staff Dentist provides direct patient care as part of a collaborative team effort to deliver comprehensive dental treatment to support patients' overall health and well-being. General dentistry done at the Dental Clinic includes but is not limited to: treatment planning, oral examinations and oral cancer screenings, restorative, removable, endodontics, oral surgery, and triage of emergency patients. The Staff Dentist is mainly focused on the clinical aspects of ASA's Oral Health Care services, but will also supervise activities of ancillary staff as needed, delegating duties outlined by the State Board.

A successful Staff Dentist must be willing and able to:

- Ensure compliance with universal precautions, infection control, and sterilization techniques at all times to ensure staff and patient protection from communicable diseases.

- Maintain professional liability insurance at levels acceptable to the agency.

- Perform clinical activities per professional licensure with emphasis on culturally sensitive chair-side manner, using referral consultation and specialty care as needed.

- Complete chart entries to reflect thorough/accurate patient treatment plan goals, as well as meet requirements by the State Board and grant funding sources.

- Monitor clinic workflow to ensure efficiency and timely delivery of dental care.

- Maintain strict patient confidentiality, including confidentiality of patient records.

- Participate in staff meetings held at the Dental Clinic and at ASA's main location.

- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Dental Services and Lead Dentist.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Graduate degree in dentistry (DDS or DMD) from an accredited dental school required.

- Current license to practice dentistry in the State of Texas required.

- Current Controlled Substances Registration Certification with the Drug Enforcement Administration required.

- Current OSHA Training required.

- Current Texas State Board of Dental Examiners Jurisprudence Assessment required.

- Current HIPAA and Texas HB 300 training required.

- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification required.

- Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccination series and/or immunity required.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Completion of AEGD or GPR post doctorate program preferred.

- Two plus years of clinical experience in general dentistry preferred

- Nitrous oxide supervision certificate preferred.

- Oral sedation permit preferred.

- Ability to perform specialty procedures, particularly biopsies and surgical extractions preferred.

- Knowledge of HIV disease preferred.

- Experience treating medically compromised patients or those living with HIV/AIDS preferred.

- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

Schedule:

Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Hours and days may vary.
