The Lead Small Fleet Mechanic performs maintenance tasks for company assets. This position also assists maintenance staff with overhauling minor components and installing replacements; with electrical, hydraulic, and computer diagnostics; and with scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance. In the absence of the shop supervisor, the Lead Small Fleet Mechanic assigns tasks and oversees work in the shop.
At least five years’ experience in automotive repair
At least three years’ experience in automotive diesel repairs
Written and verbal communication skills in English
Effective time management skills
Ability to explain troubleshooting procedure for hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic components
Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
Ability to pay attention to detail and remain alert to ensure safety
Ability to understand and follow instructions and to communicate with co-workers
Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)
Basic proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite of products – i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook
College or technical school-level coursework in automotive maintenance
Valid Class C driver’s license
Record of safe driving for the last three years
