Provide support for experimenters as needed and repair and build cyclotron related equipment as required. We need an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. Associate's degree OR two years technical certification training in vacuum, electronic or electrical systems OR any equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to basic hand tools
Basic electrical/mechanical aptitude
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Other Requirements or Other Factors:
Able to work in the rotating shift schedule, and fill in as needed
Preferred Education and Experience:
Physics background
Knowledge of electronic and vacuum systems
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver license or ability to obtain State of Texas class "C" vehicle driver license within 30 days of employment
Preferred Other Factors:
Training will be provided
Responsibilities:
Works with engineering staff on facility-related projects
Operates control systems and starts/stops vacuum systems
Performs See line 2-key checks
Tune RF on accelerators, makes basic machine adjustments and peaks beam for experiments
Assists experimenters with technical issues
Troubleshoots basic beam loss
Performs basic cryogenic system adjustments
Performs daily lab tasks. If an occasion arises, may need to pick up supplies on or off campus
Monitors RAM Systems
Assists with interlock checks
Changes modes and sets up beamlines
Maintains data log; Performs other duties as assigned
