Duties include providing travel-related services to TEEX travelers, under the direction of the Travel Coordinator, and auditing in compliance with TEEX guidelines. The Financial Accountant I will comply with TEEX guidelines, System policies, State, and Federal laws.Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Will allow two years’ experience with an Associate’s degree or four years with a high school diploma or GED.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of CONCUR

Knowledge of Masterpiece and Workday systems.

Governmental accounting experience or TAMUS experience.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.

Other Qualifications:

Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to move up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.

Knowledge of accounting practices.

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone, scanner.

Notifications:

May work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.

Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages: Review and Audit Financial Documents - 40%:Review accounts payable and travel documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the State of Texas, Texas A&M System, TEEX SAPs and guidelines, along with standard accounting and audit procedures. Review the processor inbox in Concur to ensure receipts and approvals are attached. Confirm that the approved dates and times are reflected. Follow up with employees as needed and track each request to completion in a timely manner. Verify cost codes to ensure it is on the correct general ledger (GL). Provide final accounts payable approval. Travel Support for Users - 35%Assist TEEX employees with processing, information, training, and documents related to travel. Audit travel expense reports ensuring compliance with TEEX, State, and System policies & regulations. Maintain responsive customer service to travelers and communicate to travel processors. Assist Travel Coordinator with coordination of online travel program, including travel card program integration, user access, resolve suspended transactions, system error notification to vendor and follow through solutions, reload and maintain state travel vendor updates to eTravel. Maintain audit rules within the travel system. Respond to questions and find solutions for users.Provide Travel Cards to Employees- 10%:Mail new and or replacements travel cards to employees on a weekly basis. Maintain database to track existing card users.Provide Backup Assistance as Needed 5%:Performs reconciliation to the City Bank card on a biweekly schedule as a backup for the Travel Coordinator. Set up and maintain Vendor Numbers in Masterpiece.Financial Services Operational Support 5%:Maintain changes to financial forms. Convert to Adobe Acrobat fillable and verify functionality. Sort, scan, verify and save electronic financial documents for official record retention.Other duties as assigned 5%All positions are security-sensitive.
