Job Description

Be a Part of the Aggie Spirit! Drive Texas A&M University transit routes as scheduled; assist in training new drivers; provide customer service by assisting with questions on policies, routes, etc. Operate assigned equipment in a safe manner and in adherence to all University and unit policies as well as local, state and federal laws. Assist management and supervisors train new drivers by teaching and demonstrating driving techniques, evaluating and providing feedback to the drivers and provide follow up or retraining as necessary. Assist with ride checks, update body diagrams, check timetables and observations. Conduct a proper "pre" and "post" trip vehicle inspection and note any discrepancies at the beginning and end of every shift; report any potentially hazardous vehicle maintenance or safety issues immediately to a Transit Dispatcher or Transit Supervisor. Responsible for cleanliness of all equipment assigned during shift. Responsible for reviewing and approving time worked, requesting leave, reading and responding to e-mail, and reviewing/reading information listed on the department intranet. These duties will require the use of a computer and monitor. Other duties as required.

Required Education

High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Two (2) years work experience. Valid vehicle operator's license and good driving record. Must be able to obtain State of Texas class "B" vehicle operator's license (Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement and air brakes endorsement) within 45 days of employment. Demonstrate the ability to operate several types of buses and vans to the extent of maneuvering safely through congested traffic conditions, adverse weather and road conditions. Exhibit a high degree of mental concentration and independent judgment. Good verbal and written communication skills. Experience with computers. Requires ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Additional Information:

This is a 10 month position working from mid-August to mid-May. August 1, 2019 will be the first official 10 month employment period. The position will be 100% working 40 hours per week, hours may vary.

This position will be covered by DOT regulations and be in a random drug and alcohol testing pool. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. - 1 a.m. Eight hour shifts will be scheduled during this time frame. Possibility of rotating shifts and some overtime. Please provide at least two supervisor references. PLEASE COMPLETE EMPLOYMENT HISTORY AND ATTACH A RESUME.​

Rate of Pay: $14.01/hr plus overtime, eligible for benefits
