Senior Audio/Video Technologist

Do you have what it takes?

• You are passionate especially about audio and more generally about audio and video technology and are willing to get your hands dirty to make sure you provide the best-in-class customer experience
• You keep in touch with industry progress related to broadcast and streaming technology and play a role in defining future technology
• You're familiar with cloud-based live and on-demand video processing and delivery systems
• You are familiar with objective and subjective test methods, software, and apparatus for audio and video quality and can perform tests to determine quality of experience
• You're open to working remotely and can work autonomously
• You succeed in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with a "everything has a solution" mindset and a fearless "go-getter" attitude
• You communicate effectively across all levels of our organization

SECTION 3 JOB COMPONENTS - as clearly as possible, explain what the job duties for this role are:

Here's what you'll do:

• Define technology strategy and roadmap for the audio/video pipeline for DIRECTV products
• Evaluate new technologies and industry trends, develop proof-of-concepts and present findings to the engineering organization
• Ensure audio and video customer experience is maintained by defining KPIs and quality metrics as well as perform validations of internal and vendor-developed solutions to ensure metrics are met on the audio video pipeline
• Use objective and subjective testing to determine quality of experience
• Participate in standardization committees related to the end-to-end workflow for live and on-demand video as needed
• Collaborate with internal and external teams on design, architecture, and process reviews

• Present strategic roadmap to senior leadership and get buy-in
• Develop intellectual property on focus areas
• Consider non-functional requirements such as security, scalability, resiliency, and performance in all solutions.

This position can earn between $127,100 - $254,300. Not to mention all of the other amazing rewards that working at DIRECTV offers. This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States. #LI-Remote
