Above all, Employees will be provided the same concern, respect, and caring attitude within the organization that they are expected to share externally with every Southwest Customer.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for managing the development and application of the SWA maintenance programs, ensuring proper and timely compliance with regulatory programs that relate directly to the routine Maintenance Program at the lowest cost.Responsible for development of the Employees of the Team and for maintaining a solid line of communication from front line to leadership.WORK ACTIVITIES/CONTEXT: Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description. May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders. Is responsible for the administration and policies of the following: Leads negotiations with the FAA on audits, new aircraft / fleet inductions, task interval optimization, regulatory compliance initiatives, mandated program requirements and ad hoc reporting to support FAA approval or changes to the Southwest Airlines Ops Spec. Results of these actions to be reported to Southwest Airlines Senior Leadership Leads discussions, reporting and actively participates in NTSB investigations involving maintenance program activities and aircraft accidents and incidents. Results of these actions to be reported to Southwest Airlines Senior Leadership Leads discussions, negotiations and audit activities with Department of Defense audits and activities allowing Southwest Airlines to remain active in the Civil Reserve Air Fleet. Results of these actions to be reported to Southwest Airlines Senior Leadership Negotiates and recommends approval of vendor contract agreements for supplemental labor support Provides recommendations and analysis to Labor Relations on preferred actions and analysis of employee contract (AMFA) CBA Voting member of the Fleet Reliability Group, CASS Advisory, and CPCP Board Advisory member of the FAA approved Reliability Control Board and CASS Board Manages and conducts regular reviews of each fleets Maintenance Programs ensuring compliance and identify cost savings opportunities Supervises and validates changes to the MX Program based on SWA selected changes, OEM revisions and regulatory requirements. Leads maintenance check analysis efforts, non routine coding activities, Actively leads and participates with Maintenance Programs Compliance, AD Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Engineering and FAA oversight offices as required to ensure SWA maintenance programs remains in compliance with FAR's. Provides official responses and supporting documentation for FAA LOI / GSW / MSW letters Ensures Maintenance Programs department participates in Industry Steering Committee (ICS) meetings. Provides oversight and leadership in aircraft acquisition through maintenance program review and development of bridge process for new and previously operated aircraft. Monitors and works with technology departments on developing CDCS changes and new functionality in support of the maintenance program. Ensures the department validates the intent of the maintenance program tasks meet the intent of maintenance program requirements. Supervises and monitors Regulatory programs to include, but not limited to, SFAR, EWIS, ETOPS, AD's and AWL's. Supervises the incorporation of Supplemental Type Certificate maintenance program requirements. Monitors employee performance and take corrective action as needed Conducts regular employee performance reviews and counsels employees on specific issues and employment growth opportunities Ensures that department personnel, including themselves, are properly trained, qualified, and current to perform assigned tasks. Performs station visits in support of maintenance program activities Routinely supports daily operational (breakfast club) impact reporting in coordination with senior leadership Actively lead presentation and discussion as part of line and heavy maintenance summits Manager completes other duties as assigned or delegated to them by the Senior Manager of Reliability and Maintenance Programs. Develop SWA Policies and Procedures for remaining compliant with FAA RegulationsQualificationsEDUCATION:RequiredHigh School Diploma or GEDRequiredBachelor's Degree or equivalent work experiencePreferred4 year college degree or equivalent, relevant experience required.Concentration in aviation and or business related studies preferredWORK EXPERIENCE:Required8 Yearssupervisory experience or leadership decision making role in large airline maintenance departmentRequired4 YearsMaintenance Programs experienceRequired8 Yearslarge jet aircraft maintenance experience required (B737NG is preferred)Required6 Yearshands on aircraft maintenance experience required, concentration in aviation and or business related studies preferredLICENSING/CERTIFICATION: Airframe and Powerplant license required.PHYSICAL ABILITIES:N/AKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/WORK STYLE: Must be proficient in using all Microsoft Office applications. Must possess the ability to reason and make sound timely decisions in a high pressure environment. Must be able to multi-task and adjust schedules based upon changing priorities. Must be able to communicate effectively and present issues and solutions to all levels of leadership. Must be able to read understand and interpret FAA Regulations, Advisory Circulars, and FAA 8900 Guidance. Must possess the ability to read and understand technical documents and their ability to meet intent of the maintenance program Must be able to effectively supervise multiple teams simultaneously. Must have excellent written/verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to assume the duties and responsibilities of the Senior Manager of Maintenance Programs and Reliability in his/her absence. Must solicit input from direct reports on ways to improve the performance of the maintenance program. Must understand the financial impacts of changes to the Maintenance program will have on the business. Must have a thorough understanding of AC 120-16G - Air Carrier Maintenance Programs, 120-42B (ETOPS) and 120-17A Reliability Must have a Understanding of Operations Specifications D072, D086, D097. Must be able to define a departmental vision, and inspire others, working in a collaborative role Must be able to develop and deliver executive level presentationsOTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines. Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines. Must be able to provide support to the operational organizations seven days a week, 24 hours a day in coordination with the Aircraft Standards Leadership team.
