Position: HR Risk Advisor

Duration: Contract (Long Term) on W2

Location: Needs to be located: Dallas, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Charlotte, NC; Minneapolis, MN; Austin, TX, Atlanta, GA, Boston, MA, and Tempe, AZ, will be hybrid.

Responsibilities:
The Chief Controls Office, which is led by the Chief Controls Officer, aims to achieve a high level of consistency and quality in approach, standards, and methodology for non-financial risk and controls. The Chief Controls Office Team is made up of risk management professionals committed to enabling business success in today’s complex legal and regulatory environment. The team is a part of SVB’s 1st line of defense. The Corporate Functions Risk team is responsible for supporting the first line in managing risk-related activities within Human Resources (HR), Finance, Marketing, and Strategy. As a risk management professional, you will support the Business Risk Officers within the first line and liaise closely with the second line, as needed, in identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and mitigating current and emerging risk exposures across one or more corporate function risk disciplines. Responsibilities include risk governance and oversight; execution of a robust controls testing program; and risk identification and remediation program for self-identified, internal, and external issues in keeping with corporate tools and methodologies.

Specific responsibilities could include:
  • Support the coordination and performance of audits and support the business in developing remediation action plans and meeting issues deadlines tracking and resolving deficiencies, as identified • Support the Corporate Function risk team with establishment of reporting routines, project administration, and other ad hoc activities
  • Stay current on fast-changing industry trends and help incorporate new/changing business models into the bank’s risk management framework to demonstrate effective risk governance and minimize business disruption
  • Work with different subject matter experts (SMEs) across all SVB Corporate functions to resolve risk issues, as appropriate, and ensure timely reporting per corporate risk policies
  • Facilitate cross functional teams, facilitate project meetings, develop, and maintain project plans and manage/support solution implementations
  • Work with teams to ensure data integrity, maintain compliance with federal/state and international requirements, as required. Report accurate and timely information as it relates to compliance and risk responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and support process/control owners in maintenance of required compliance documentation as well as internal control practices

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in the financial industry or related/relevant field
  • A minimum of 6-10 years of compliance, risk management, audit, legal, and/or vendor risk management
  • Direct experience working in a FLOD or SLOD risk role within a large financial institution and/or consulting experience advising financial institutions on the implementation of effective Risk Management programs
  • Strong expertise with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Adobe.
  • Data Analytics/ understanding of how to mine for data/SQL, preferred but not required
