The company enjoys a good working relationship with the Department of Transportation and Municipal agencies of those areas, and performs private and commercial contracts as well.Job DescriptionJOB TITLE: Asphalt Plant LaborerDIVISION: Asphalt Plant SUPERVISOR: Plant Foreperson/SuperintendentSUMMARYEmployee performs various duties within an asphalt plant to ensure operations run safely and efficiently. Maintains excellent housekeeping around the plant by shoveling, performs repairs as needed to plant equipment and performs preventative maintenance in order to keep the plant running.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the plant foreperson with the daily operations and upkeep of the plant.
Ability to access all areas of the plant to perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
Perform welding and fabrication duties as required.
Ability to detect safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and respond accordingly.
Ability to follow directions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Policies, Programs & Procedures Manual.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTIndividuals wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as required by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy. Protective equipment that may be required for this position includes, but is not limited to: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, High Visibility Safety Apparel, Fall Protection, Gloves, Welding Gloves, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Welding Aprons, Welding Helmet, Welding Shield, occassional use of Heat Resistant Apparel.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSIndividuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
