ThePediatric Day Surgery Registered Nurse (RN) performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the in-patient and out-patient Day Surgery service line. The RN implements and directs care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual Day Surgery patients. The Day Surgery RN participates in Day Surgery specific initiatives and process improvement and promotes a supportive Day Surgery environment. Also, provides supervision of new employees, patient care assistants, vocational nurses, nurse technicians, student nurses and/or nurse externs. Maintains high quality (age specific) care for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, as assigned.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Current TX RN License
BSN required within 24 months of hire
Acute care experience within last 5 years required
Experience with infant to adult Day Surgery patients, preferred
Current American Heart Association BLS provider.

RN or LVN/LPN with current licensure to practice nursing in the practicing state. Possess and maintain CPR certification. Previous experience in home care setting preferred. Prior use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred. Knowledge of accepted professional standards and practice, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Demonstrates excellent observation, nursing judgement, and communication skills. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working order.
