The El Paso Times is looking for an experienced journalist to grow its audience and serve its community through City Hall and watchdog coverage.
We must put our digital audience first in making coverage decisions by asking key questions that our target audience will have on coverage topics.
A successful candidate must be a leader in City Hall / watchdog coverage in our market. We must win with breaking news and shift gears to enterprise and watchdog reporting through strong source development and the use of datatoreveal trends and examine city spending.
The reporter will place an emphasis on city policies, business development and the public’s access to government.
El Paso is on the U.S / Mexico border, neighboring Juarez, Mexico, so binational coverage will come into play.
Strong reporting and writing skills are required and a minimum of three years experience.
This is a core coverage area of the El Paso Times and the USA Today Network.
