Here's what you'll do:

• Design systems to meet security, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability requirements
• Participate in design discussions about new features and approaches to implementing new services and collaborate cross-functionally to analyze, engineer, and implement end-to-end solutions
• Create architecture, designs, and documentation that will lead to consistent reliability, scalability, security, and performance of the system as a whole
• Coach and guide cross-functional teams through technical tasks and work with product managers to understand feature requirements
• Plan short-term efforts and assist with the planning of medium- and long-term efforts and multi-team projects
• Maintain technical and working knowledge of systems to act as subject matter expert for the overall system

Here's what you'll need:

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical discipline
• 5+ years of Software Engineering, Software Architecure, or related technical experience
• Experience managing or leading engineering projects or teams
• Familiarity with software development, specifically with JavaScript, Node.js, Golang, Java, React, C, Swift
• Familiarity with Cloud-based architectures and managed services
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a demonstrated qualitative and quantitative skill set analyzing complex issues and designing appropriate solutions
• Ability to manage broad workload and accommodate change, adapting as needed
• Proven ability to deliver results in a fast-moving environment
• Excellent communication skills, and ability to effectively communicate with audiences across a range of technical knowledge

The Systems Architecture team at DIRECTV works with product owners and development teams to set the target architectures and support the implementation of services to deliver an extraordinary experience to our customers. The team is responsible for providing technical leadership at the program-level, ensuring high level designs are complete, and can be successfully integrated at the individual team and component level. We analyze the interfaces and data requirements to facilitate this integration and evaluate the system level performance impacts of design options. As a member of the team, you get to work with smart engineers and make sure the pieces all fit together, using your knowledge of the big picture to steer clear of roadblocks.
