We are currently recruiting to fill the following position:Job DescriptionJOB TITLE: Technical InstructorSCA OCCUP: 15090 TECHNICAL INSTRUCTORSALARY GRADE: Federal Wage Determination or Collective Bargaining AgreementFLSA STATUS: NonexemptAPPROVAL DATE: September 19, 2016POSITION SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, the Technical Instructor teaches courses in a technical trade or craft in accordance with approved curriculum. Employees in this job class train, coach and provide on-going support to employees. This job requires knowledge in working directly with individuals including persons with disabilities, to ensure their success on the job.SUPERVISES: There are no direct reports associated with this position.TYPICAL DUTIES:Prepares an instructional program in accordance with training or other course requirements.

Assembles materials to be presented.

Effectively utilizes allotted training time, maintains proficiency in instructional techniques, incorporates current examples in teaching (provides real world examples related to subject matter).

Develops and maintains classroom techniques that reflect professionalism, good discipline and enhance teaching.

Alternatives teaching techniques in order to maintain high motivation and interest in subject areas.

May administer examinations.

Identifies reasonable accommodations and works with management to create reasonable accommodations on the job.

Prepares assignments, makes recommendations to curriculum.

Completes training forms and necessary documentation associated with training.

10.Works with management, Rehabilitation and Human Resources team toidentify and select employees ready to enter the skilled trade’s profession.11.Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.Denotes Essential Job Function

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Three or more years of experience working with employees on job skills either in the classroom or one on one; including one year working with persons with disabilities; Experience in general maintenance or skilled trades profession preferred; Computer literacy and skills to use business software and the Internet in a variety of applications, including memos, schedules, spreadsheets, and data entry; Experience providing direction and assistance to others in both a classroom and one and one setting; Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation; Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; Human Relations skills to maintain effective working relationships with other staff, employers and clients; Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and common sense skills.CERTIFICATES REQUIRED: N/APHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: Keyboarding Viewing computer screensWORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a shop/construction environment a majority of the time around tools and various equipment and exposure to wind, rain, cold, and heat. The remainder of work is performed in an office environment.
