DescriptionAccountemps is seeking an Accounts Receivable (A/R) Clerk. The accounting team is growing quickly and is looking for someone interested in great career growth potential and a great benefits package. The strongest candidates for this position will be able to enter, post and reconcile batches, research and resolve customer A/R issues, prepare aging report, place billing and collection calls, maintain cash receipts journal, update, and reconcile sub-ledger to G/L. The Accounts Receivable Clerk must be a self-starter with high attention to detail, in order to handle 200+ invoices a week. This is a long-term temporary-to-full-time Accounts Receivable Clerk position and is based in the Galveston, Texas area.Key responsibilities
Pinpoint delinquent customer accounts through various means, e.g. written correspondence, phone contact, skip-tracing, and making arrangements for payment
Test documents and codes
Communicate information, as requested to shippers, customers, the sales/marketing department and other stakeholders
Take care of payments and compile segments of monthly closings and annual reports in compliance with GAAP
Execute a range of foundational accounting tasks in agreement with normal procedures, including general accounting tasks
Contact clients to help resolve payment issues; assist in setting up payment plans
Promote, communicate, and reinforce the mission, values and culture of the organization
Balance bank accounts, posting and balancing financial data in a number of different ledgers
Requirements
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
AA or BS/BA degree in Accounting or related field
Analytical skills in basic accounts receivable and accounting policy
Command of Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills
Foundational knowledge in billing
Month end closings experience required
Aging Reports experience highly desired
Solid understanding of customer invoices
Strong familiarity with account reconciliation
3+ years of relevant experience in accounts receivable
Knowledgeable of ERP systems
