Typical work includes preparing feeds, animal observations, water quality testing and equipment calibration, data collection and entry, inventory, and maintenance of life support system equipment. Additionally, the student will conduct educational outreach tours, create content for various digital platforms, attend training and staff meetings, and other duties as assigned.Roles and Responsibilities:55% - General husbandry of research animals and live feed cultures;15% - Water quality testing of all research systems;15% - Maintenance of life support systems;10% - General facility maintenance;5% - Educational outreach activitiesGeneral Qualifications:Must be currently enrolled as a student on the TAMUG campus; General knowledge of marine organisms within the Gulf of Mexico; Proficient skills in Microsoft Office and Google applications; Minimum GPA of 2.7 - This may be waived, but only with approval from Katie St. Clair after an interview.Learning Outcomes:Demonstrate critical thinking and decision making in regards to animal husbandry and experimental proceduresMaintain and manage a variety of equipment and resources in a research settingDevelop the ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks in a collaborative work environmentAll positions are security-sensitive.
