Pesticide and HerbicideTechnicianPosition SummaryPerforms duties of applying pesticides and herbicides.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesApply pesticides and larvicide packetsthroughout the entire system, including but not limited to, joints, retaining walls, sound walls, barrier walls, inlets, and swalesApply herbicide at facilities including walkways and parking lots.Maintain clean vehicle, and monitor vehicle needs (oil, gasoline levels, tire pressure, etc)Insure proper oil to gas ratio in gas cansMaintain and document all receipts for gas purchasesMaintain a database report for all areas sprayed.Ensure security of allwork-relatedequipmentProvide accurate invoices for customersEnsure customers receive lawn application signsEnsure the safety of people and wildlife in proximity to chemical applicationHelp maintain customer expectationsAlways wear proper protective clothingWork independently and work as a teamBasic ability and understanding of technology for reporting work flowOther duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesWorking knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in grounds and right of way maintenance.Knowledge of pesticides/herbicide sprays and safety measures used in the control of pests.Knowledge of environmental conditions appropriate for pesticide applications.Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions with client and coworkersAbility to maintain detailed records of product application (fertilizer, herbicide, pesticide)Ability to operate a spray machine with a boomAbility to operate trailerRequired to be available for emergency response rotations as need for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalentValid driver license and a good driving record are required to drive a company vehicle.Possess a current TexasDepartment of Agriculture Commercial Applicator’s license with the categories of licensure in Right-of-Way Pest Control, Herbicide and Aquatic Pest Control.WorkConditions/Physical DemandsCapable of working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.Must be able to wear full protection gear while applications occurAbility to lift a minimum of 60lbsThe employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk on a wide range of surfaces; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
