We are hiring a talented, energetic and highly motivated Bioinformatics Associate to join the Dascena R & D team. This integral position will participate in the execution and delivery of data (generated by next-generation sequencing (NGS) and other high-throughput molecular data platforms) through collaboration with wet-lab scientists and quality teams. This role will report into the Director of Research and Development and be based in Houston TX.
What you’ll do:

  • Work with large-scale data collection, processing and analysis
  • Presentation of methods and results both internally and externally
  • Perform statistical analyses of large-scale data sets and compile reports for dissemination to team members
  • Maintain documentation of utilized software for regulatory agencies
  • Possess experience in processing and analyzing NGS data including mapping, alignment, variant calling and quality control
  • Collaborate with teammates to identify, manipulate and develop software and pipelines to expand the Dascena data generation repertoire.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
What you have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Master’s degree in a related field may be considered in lieu of two years required experience
  • Experience in the following:
    • Unix command line interface
    • Programming Language (Python preferred, ruby, java, perl…)
    • Familiarity with databases and SQL
  • At least one (1) year of at-scale NGS experience including analysis tools
    • BWA, Samtools, bedtools, Dragen, etc.
What you’ll bring:
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as R, Matlab and Python
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be capable of working independently and with collaborative teams
  • Experience utilizing other multi-omic large-scale data sources (e.g., proteomic, metabolomic, epigenomic…)
