Job Title: Technical Writer

Duration: 12+ MONTHS

Location: Houston Texas- Remote

The Technical Writer will create and revise technical documents such as technical documents based on NERC CIP, NIST 800-53 and NIST Data Privacy framework.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Writes and edits technical security documents including, policy, procedure, standard, guidelines, and product runbooks according to NIST standards
  • Determines the type of publication that will best serve the project requirements.
  • Meets with engineers, compliance analysts, and managers to learn about specific technical processes at client's office.
  • Research process flow to fully understand for documentation purposes.
  • Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended;
  • adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.
  • Plans writing processes and sets timelines and deadlines.
  • Gathers feedback from technical teams and project management team\ to improve existing technical documents.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and grammatical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently.
  • Ability to edit and proofread work of colleagues.
  • Proficient with Visio, Word and Excel skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP or NIST Frameworks Technical background preferred

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field preferred Three years of related experience required.
