Moore Transportation has an opening for a contract courier driver in the greater Houston Area. We are gaining more customers and are turning down too much work and need to bring in new drivers to make sure our service level stays high. Even as this ad was being entered we were forced to turn down a 3 pallet load going to McAllen Texas. We do not want that!
PRIORITY GIVEN TO THOSE WHO OWN A CARGO VAN WITH AT LEAST A 60" REAR DOOR OPENING HEIGHT OR SMALL BOX TRUCK BECAUSE MANY PALLETS WE CARRY ARE OVER 4 FEET TALL AND WILL NOT GO INTO A STANDARD ROOF HEIGHT TRANSIT, E-SERIES FORD, OR CLASSIC CHEVY CARGO VAN. AN EXTENDED LENGTH VAN THAT CAN HOLD 3 PALLETS IS A HUGE PLUS.
WE ARE ALSO INTERESTED IN FLATBED TRUCKS.

Driver should own a cargo van (needs to be a taller roof type van like a sprinter, ram promaster, nissan nv, or ford transit raised roof style full size van). We are also looking for owners that have a small box truck like an Isuzu NPR or an Isuzu NPR flatbed or any of the heavy duty Ford, Dodge, or Chevy heavy duty flatbeds.
Must be familiar with the Houston area and able to quickly get from place to place while correctly completing the necessary paperwork and keeping proper records of the deliveries as they are completed.
GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS ARE A MUST. IF YOU ARE DIFFICULT TO REACH THEN DON'T BOTHER RESPONDING!
This job pays commission per job properly completed, the driver gets 60% of the cost of the delivery. The more jobs you do the more money you make, as compensation is by the job. Our drivers routinely make more money than drivers doing the same work at other courier and hot shot companies. We quite often get out of town deliveries which allow you to stack up the money in a hurry!
We have been in business for 15 years now and have a solid customer base. If you are willing to put in the time there is definitely money to be made in this line of work, as well as having the benefit of not being stuck in an office or inside a building all day. If you like to drive and like going to new places all the time then you will like this type of work.
We generally work from 7am to 5pm Monday through Friday and are normally closed on weekends and holidays but plan on doing whatever it takes to get the work done to keep our customers happy. Of course if you pick up a run at 10am going to New Orleans or several deliveries going to say San Antonio or the South Texas Valley you will be working a long day but no driver ever complains because on days like that you make more money in one day than a lot of people make in a week. In cases like that we want to go make the delivery and get back to town for the next days work so we are not short handed. Also from time to time some customers need something done on a weekend or holiday or picked up very early in the morning, we charge more for these and usually someone is quick to volunteer because the money is so good.
It would be best if you live within the Grand Parkway circle of town to be able to cut down on response time and driving distance when jobs come up, not a deal breaker but if you live far out of town you probably should not respond to this ad.
We do not care about your background, we only care that you handle your business and do the job properly, so don't let some mistakes in your past stop you from making good money! It is what you do NOW that counts.
