The Enterprise Automation Engineer is a position responsible for leading a variety of enterprise infrastructure engineering activities including implementing, testing, and deploying automation for the on-premise private cloud in coordination with the Enterprise Infrastructure Services team. This role is instrumental in implementing the automation, engineering processes and best practices to enable the foundational infrastructure required for application hosting within the private cloud.

The ideal candidate has professional experience in implementing and automating highly available private cloud services using industry best practices. Advanced industry knowledge is key, as well as knowledge in automating all components required to install, configure, and maintain a private cloud infrastructure service. The role requires a talented technologist with experience engaging with automation engineers throughout the full development life-cycle from inception and design to deployment, operation, and iterative development.

Product engineering is a critical function within CTI and this role will play a key part in integrating application and infrastructure in the private cloud.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver the tooling and capabilities needed to enable our infrastructure as code strategy
  
• Designs, develops, validates, and documents automated solutions to fulfill business needs
  
• Writes documentation such as Value stream mapping, Architecture diagrams, and Requirements documentation making them available on tools such as Confluence
  
• Implements, tests, maintains, and enhances automated solutions using industry best practices
  
• Explores new automation tools and technologies, always keeping the future at the forefront of all activities and decisions
  
• Assists in maintaining the backlog of stories using tools such as Jira
  
• Trains junior engineers in automated solutions and encourages growth within a team
  
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  

Essential Skills:

• Understanding of VMware products, especially vSphere and vCenter
  
• Experience with essential DevOps tools like Git, Bitbucket, Artifactory, and Jenkins
  
• Experience with the use of Agile methodologies, such Scrum and Kanban, to manage projects
  
• Understanding of REST APIs and how to interface with them
  
• Experience developing automation using tools such as Ansible or Terraform
  

Preferred Skills:

• Understanding of Software Defined Networking, VMware NSX-T datacenter
  
• Understanding of virtualization/containerization technologies, such as Kubernetes and Docker
  
• Experience with vRealize Automation and vRealize Orchestrator
  
• Experience developing software using Java and Java-related technologies
  
• Experience developing software using Python and Python-related technologies
  
• Experience developing software using PowerShell and PowerCLI
  
• Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems installation and automation thereof with tools like packer
  
• Experience automating the installation and configuration of virtualized infrastructure in an enterprise environment
  
• Experience automating the installation and configuration of software defined networking in an enterprise environment
  
• Understanding of logging products, such as Splunk and Log Insight
  
• Understanding of monitoring products, such as AppDynamics
  
• Understanding of secrets management products, such as Vault.
  
• Experience with middleware and web integration technologies
  

Qualifications:

• Experience working in financial services, highly regulated environments, or large/global, complex environments
• Experience with automation, orchestration, or CI/CD technologies
• Conceptual knowledge with Agile methodologies
• Conceptual knowledge of DevOps methods desired
• Project Management experience desired
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices
• Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills
• Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative
• Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
• Proven track record of operational process changes and improvement
