Job purpose
The Sign Installation Laborer is an essential part of the Sign Installation Crew. They are the labor responsible for the overall execution of the sign and associated traffic related products on a project.
Duties and responsibilities
Load materials and equipment necessary to complete project
Operate and maintain various equipment including but not limited to ground auger, concrete mixer, jack hammer and skid-steer
Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy civil construction
Setup, operate and maintain equipment
Able to maintain a clean job site; picks up all tools, equipment and debris
Able to assist with placement of advance warning signs, barricades and devices
Qualifications
Skills
o Skill with various small hand tools and power tools
o Skill with various large equipment
Abilities
o Able to utilize various equipment to complete project safely and efficiently
o Able to identify correct materials to load for specific job
o Able to account for equipment and materials used on project
o Able to work in fast-paced environment
o Able to maintain composure in high stress situations
Education
o High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
o OR One to Three months of related experience and/or training
Experience/Other
o Class C Driver's License
Preferred
o Experience with light-medium duty equipment
o Experience pulling a non-CDL trailer
o Class A or B CDL
Working conditions
The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in construction sites including but not limited to various weather conditions, high noise levels and various fumes from construction equipment.
Typical work hours are 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. However, this position has varying hours including weekend, nights, early mornings and late nights.
Travel is primarily local during the work day, however some job sites are out of the area and may require overnight stays.
