PURPOSE: Manage all bookkeeping functions in relation to the church and preschool. Control and monitor the administrative activities of the church.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Senior Pastor and Finance Elder.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Directs the overall financial plans and accounting practices for the church and preschool.

A. Sort and code bills weekly.

B. Write checks and handle bank account transfers weekly.

C. Post receipts, disbursements and pledge records weekly.

D. Reconcile bank statement to all accounts monthly.

E. Prepare monthly financial statements as directed by Finance Elder and Preschool Director.

2. Maintain pledging records, quarterly statements and giving records for all contributions in a timely fashion.

3. Control and monitor the administration of all Human Resource activity and policies in an accurate and timely manner.

A. Establish new employee records as needed.

B. Manage employee compensation and benefit records.

C. Submit background checks on new employees, volunteers and nursery staff as needed and in a timely fashion.

4. Review and update church insurance policies as needed.

A. Compare various policies, coverage and prices among different companies; shop for best policy, best price and most dependable insurer before renewal.

B. Examine insurance needs of the church: health, property, casualty, various liabilities, etc. as needed.

5. Utilizes available resources for needed expertise. (i.e. insurance, legal, accounting, network).

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field preferred or equivalent experience.

2. Knowledge and use of ACS accounting software preferred.

3. Strong oral and written communication skills.

4. The ability to work well in a team setting with ministerial staff, support and elders.

5. The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

OTHER:

1. This is a part-time position (20-25 hrs/wk).

2. This position is non-exempt (paid hourly).
