Self-employed accountant new-ish to Lubbock (July 2018) looking for someone to help with general accounting duties for a bunch of clients that I work with. Duties would include general bookkeeping, bank/credit card reconciliations, communicating with clients (sending them their monthly financials, for example), and building/maintaining document storage systems for each client. Other ad-hoc duties could include A/R collections, potentially other personal assistant-esque duties (my inbox annoys me, I want to stay out of it).
95% of the work is done on Quickbooks Online. If you have experience with that, great, if not, desire to learn is just as important.
I'd like to explain the downsides up-front:
-I work out of my home, so the candidate would likely need to do that too, at least at first while learning everything (each business you'd work on has their own unique "rules"). I understand that that's a bit unconventional. But I have a fair-sized house, and I'm not crazy or anything (though I do have two little dogs, for anyone with allergies).
-Right now, this would be a contract position. Hours can vary quite a bit as I do travel. Which is not necessarily a "downside," but it does limit this job to people in certain situations (IE, not anyone looking for a conventional F/T job).
If I were to guess, I think that this could be quite ideal for someone who wants to supplement their income and work 2 - 4 hours/day, maybe, to start. Maybe someone who stays at home while the kids are at school. Maybe a college student who'd rather reserve their evenings for more important things (parties). I don't know.
